Ulrike Brigitte Fear of Highland Park, New Jersey passed away on November 14, 2015 at Saint Peter’s University Hospital. She was 72 years old. Born and raised in Germany, Ulrike moved to the United States in her early twenties. She became a resident of Highland Park in 1969, where she resided until her death. Ulrike earned undergraduate and Master’s Degrees in German with highest honors from Rutgers University while working full time and raising two young sons. She was employed as a translator by Siemens Corporation, eventually becoming Director of Translation Services. After Ulrike’s retirement from Siemens, she created her own successful translation business which she operated until her death. Ulrike was a strong, independent woman and a survivor of breast cancer. Her many interests included art, antiques, gardening, reading and Native American culture. She thought of herself as a citizen of the world and immensely enjoyed her worldwide travels. Always a compassionate person, Ulrike donated generously to a variety of causes around the world and in her home town. Predeceased by her parents and brother, Ulrike is survived by son Dean and his wife Ranee, son Heath and his wife Carey and six grandchildren: Ethan, Elisabeth, Paris, Evan, Vail and Saige. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family will receive visitors on January 9, 2016 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park, N.J. (www.jkfuneralhome.com) A Celebration of Life service will begin at noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to Child Fund International (www.childfund.org) or to American Indian College Fund (www.collegefund.org).
