Theresa Julia Byrne, 94, of Highland Park, New Jersey passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the St. Mary's Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Cherry Hill surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Byrne was born in New Brunswick and was a lifelong resident of Highland Park. She was a Registered Nurse and worked at Raritan Arsenal in Piscataway and Edison. Later she was the School Nurse at Highland Park High School. Theresa also worked part time as a private duty nurse. She enjoyed being a homemaker later in life. Theresa was also a long-time member of the St Paul Altar Rosary Society as well as the Highland Park Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Theresa was predeceased by her husband, William Byrne (1995), her son, John Byrne (2017), and her sisters: Mary Ellen Mooney, Ann (Nancy) Wharton, and Katherine O'Leary.
Mrs. Byrne is survived by her daughters: Mary Pursell and her husband, Lawrence, of Mt. Laurel, NJ; Patricia Troike and her husband, Edward, of Atco, NJ; and her son, James and his wife Patricia, of Katy, Texas. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Debra Byrne. Theresa has 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She also has numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Monday, January 15, 2024 between the hours of 3 pm and 6 pm at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 S. Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park, NJ. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered at Transfiguration of the Lord Parish (St. Paul's the Apostle Church). Raritan Avenue and S 5th Avenue, Highland Park, NJ on Tuesday at 10 am. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Saint Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick, NJ
Parking is available behind the funeral home or on S. Adelaide Avenue.
