Roy Day, age 65, of Edison, died late evening Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the JFK Medical Center in Edison after a brief illness.
He was born September 15, 1943 in Bangor, Maine to Roy E. Day, Sr. and Leah Hufman. Roy was a 1961 graduate of Middletown Area High School, Middletown, PA where he was President of his class. He graduated from Drexel University, Philadelphia, in 1966 and served as 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army Infantry during the Vietnam era.
Roy married Mary Anne Thompson, also of Middletown, PA where the two of them met in grade school. He was the father of two daughters, Kathleen Marie of New York City and Amy Anne of North Brunswick, N.J.
He worked in the food ingredients industry for Essex Grain Products, Inc. in Newark for over 30 years and currently as the Executive Vice President. Roy enjoyed traveling, antique car shows, photography, movies and the New York Rangers.
He is survived by his wife and daughters, his mother, Leah Day of Middletown, PA; a brother, Thomas Day and his wife, Jennie, of Maineville, OH; a nephew, Phillip; a niece, Ashleigh and many loved cousins, in-laws and friends.
Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 6th at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7th at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church, 502 Raritan Avenue, Highland Park. Interment will take place at a later date at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Roy's memory would be appreciated to St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church, Parish Center, 23 South Fifth Avenue, Highland Park, N.J. 08904.
