Robert H. Lawson, Sr. age 70, of Highland Park, died Friday, December 27, 2013 at his residence.
Born in Mount Airy, North Carolina, the son of Ben and Novella Lawson, he moved to Highland Park in 1977.
Robert worked for many years as a short-order cook at the White Rose in Highland Park. Later, he was employed in maintenance at the Middlesex County Fire Academy in Sayreville.
He loved fishing and watching wrestling but most of all he is remembered as someone who loved cutting lawns.
He was pre-deceased by his son, Robert Jr. “Tiger” in 2012 and two brothers, Billy and Clay Lawson.
Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Lawson, with whom he spent 43 years together, two sons, Charles “Chopper” Lawson and Chris Parsons both of Highland Park, three siblings, Lounell Noah, Clyde Lawson and Cager Lawson, all of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, December 30th at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park. A funeral service will take place at 8p.m. Monday following the visiting hours. Cremation will be private.
