Aurelio "Ray" Joseph Battaglia, age 83, of Highland Park, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Highland Park, he was a lifelong resident. Ray had served in the Navy during World War II. He was a communicant at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church in Highland Park.
Many years ago, Ray had worked as a radio and television repairman for Dash Electronics in Highland Park. He went on to own and operate Ricci's Pizza in Franklin Park before finishing up his working career as a technician with the Highland Park Water & Sewer Department retiring about 10 years ago.
Ray was pre-deceased by his wife, Tina, in 2006.
He is survived by his children; Marie Fingerhut and her husband, Michael of Monmouth Junction, Thomas Battaglia and his wife, Karen, of Easley, South Carolina, and Ray Battaglia of Princeton, a sister, Teresa Chicarilla of Edison, a brother, Joseph Battaglia, of Toms River, four grandchildren, Katy, Zack, and Hannah Fingerhut and Ryan Battaglia and several nieces and nephews.
