Peter Remsing

Peter "Pete" Remsing, 88, of Highland Park died peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at his home. Born in New Brunswick, he resided in Highland Park for 68 years. He was employed by Rutgers University in New Brunswick for 45 years and retired as a Supervisor of Facilities 19 years ago. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Edison Post #3117. He served as a Sergeant in World War II with the U.S. Army. He fought in the battle of Luzon, New Guinea and Soutern Philippines. He received the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Metal, Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal.
He was pre-deceased by his wife of 59 years, Antonette Krajewski Remsing in 2001. He was also predeceased by his parents, Peter and Mary Remsing, his sisters, Helen and Betty Remsing and brother, Joseph. He will be sadly missed by sisters, Pearl Remsing and Peg Majaros and her husband, Andy, his two daughters, Carol Guchek and her husband, Joseph, and Ann Volpe and her husband, William; two sons, Peter Remsing and Paul Remsing and his wife, Patricia; his grandchildren, Kimberly Volpe Dessel and her husband, Darrin, Christopher Volpe, Allison Volpe Thompson, and her husband, Adam, Nicole Volpe Klein and her husband, Steve, Jeffrey Gerencser, Michelle Gerencser and her partner, Sherrie Mitchell, Kelly and Erin Remsing, Lea Ann Guchek Clifford and her husband, Peter, Joseph Guchek and his wife, Gretchen,and Jennifer Guchek; and his great-grandchildren, Lauren and Scott Dessel, Ryan Thompson, Peter Ryan and James Clifford, and Ethan and Aidan Guchek, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and his care givers, Gail Ann and Jacquelyn, whose compassion and caring were a comfort to him over the past four years.
