Patrick Obukowho Obituary

It is with a very heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Patrick Obukowho on December 13, 2024. Patrick was born and later died in his native country of Nigeria. He is survived by his wife (Ochuko Obukowho), four children (Yvonne Walton, Joseph Obukowho, Michelle Branch, and Antonette Obukowho), and four grandchildren (Zuri Branch, Yvette Walton, Yvie Walton, and Ozara Branch).

Patrick's story is a remarkable one. Born in Delta State Nigeria to a powerful and religious family, it is as if he were always destined for greatness. His tenacity, curiosity, thirst for knowledge, and loyalty to your parents ultimately lead to your decision to venture off to America some 40+ years ago. Upon his departure from his Nigeria he later brought along his then girlfriend now wife, and the rest was history.

Despite all the challenges Patrick faced in life whether it be personally from losing his parents, twin brother, and younger brother, or professionally working tirelessly around the clock to obtain a degree in Industrial Chemistry from Chicago State University back in 1987, all while working full-time, his faith remained unwavered. Through Patrick's hard work, determination, and trust in God he was able to build the life that his family is able to enjoy today.

Although we selfishly wish he were able to be with us longer, to say he did not live an abundant life would be fallacious. Known for his innovative ideas, charisma, and work ethic, he established himself as a world renown chemist with numerous patents and publishings to his name. A member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, Patrick was able to travel the world and give lectures, inspiring the next generation of chemists in his field. He was a philanthropist, serving as Grand Master for four years at your local chapter of Knights of Columbus. He was a highlighly decorated and revered chief in his native Urhobo community and worked fervently to ensure the culture and traditions would not be forgotten. Most importantly, Patrick was a family man, a loving husband to his wife with whom you were in a five-decade long relationship. A devoted father and biggest cheerleader to four successful children, and in the last chapter of your life a loving and playful grandfather to four grandchildren who always managed to put a smile on your face.

Although Patrick's time in the physical has ended, a new life in the spiritual has just begun. Through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we find solace knowing he is in a better place. The family is full of gratitude for all those that have reached out with their thoughts, prayers, and support.
