Norman G. Shamy, Sr., age 76, of Highland Park, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in New Brunswick, he has lived in Highland Park for most of his life. Norman was a life member and past captain of the Highland Park First Aid Squad. Years ago, he was active with the Highland Park Boy Scouts and worked with the Highland Park Board of Health. He had worked as a warehouse manager for BT North America in New York City before his retirement. Norman was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dolores Reff Shamy, a son, Norman Shamy,Jr., a daughter, Maureen O'Sullivan, four grandchildren, Norman Shamy III, Larry Shamy, Zackary O'Sullivan and Kelsey O'Sullivan, two brothers, James and Richard, and three sisters, June, Norma, and Joyce.
