It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of Mrs. Nedoszytko’s mother, Nadiya Popovych. She passed away on Wednesday, February 25 at the Hunterdon Medical Center. Nadiya Popovych loved life.
Born before World War II, in Buhliv village in Ukraine, she suffered the hardship of the war and learned many survival skills as a child. She was always a hard worker and never gave up. She and her family moved to Ternopil City in the western part of Ukraine right after the war.
Life in the Soviet Union at that time was strenuous and full of daily problems that needed to be solved. She persevered.
In 1958, she married a young man from Oleshnyk village in the Post Karpathian area Stepan Popovych and they started a family. They gave life to three children: Svitlana, Lubov, and Eugene. Nadiya was a caregiver for all, her grandmother, her mother, and her own family. At the same time she managed to go to school and get a certificate of Landscape Engineering from Kharkiv Technical School of Landscapes in 1962. She managed it all.
Nadiya loved plants and gardening. It was her job, her hobby, and one of her passions in life. Notwithstanding, nothing could fulfill her more than taking care of her family and her children. When her daughter Svitlana married Alexander Nedoszytko of Kingwood township NJ in 1992, she started living between two countries and tried to help everywhere. She helped raise Svitlana’s children, took care of her son, and when able to visit, always tried to help Luba’s family living in Volgograg, Russia.
In 2018, being diagnosed with dementia, Nadiya moved to Kingwood permanently. It was nearly a decade-long struggle with a disease that slowly was destroying her life-loving personality. In the joyful moments of clarity, she laughed, joked a lot and greatly enjoyed walking outside and gardening.
On Wednesday, February 25, 2026 her heart stopped. While we deeply mourn her loss, we are grateful that she is in a better place now, rejoined with her Heavenly Father. Nadiaya is survived by her children: Svitlana, Lubov, Eugene, her grandchildren: Anastasia, Igor and Vasilina; Mary Ann, Alexander, and Steven; and her great-grandchildren: Alice and Eva.
May her memory be eternal!
Вічная Памʼять, Мамо!
