Mildred K. Skerbetz went home to Jesus on February 15, 2026. She was at home surrounded by loved ones. Millie was the loving daughter of Martin and Gizella Kovatch and the sister to Elaine, Evelyn and Paul. Growing up in New Brunswick, NJ, Millie graduated from New Brunswick High School with honors. While working at a luncheonette, she had a frequent customer who eventually won her heart. Millie and Bill Skerbetz married on November 4, 1951 and remained married for 65 yrs. They were blessed with 5 children, David, Bruce, Mark, Leslie and Douglas. The family grew up in Highland Park, NJ. The years passed quickly and soon there were weddings and babies to love. Millie had 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
Millie’s heart was not only full of love for her family and friends but also for animals, from the family' s numerous pets to many organizations that supported all animals. She also had a great love of God and her faith was strong. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Brunswick where she served as a Deacon and sang in the choir.
Millie not only worked hard in raising her growing family but also worked for the State in different positions. Millie was organized and an incredible typist, an asset to any office.
She also was giving of her time. Millie delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She also was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary League for the Highland Park First Aid Squad.
All who knew her were touched by her spirit and love of life. Millie loved a good time and a good laugh. Family gatherings were always special. .A backyard picnic enjoying a “well done” hotdog off the grill was heaven.
Millie is in a different heaven now. She is home with Jesus, parents, siblings, husband, her son-in-law Craig Bagley, family, friends and many many pets who welcomed her Home.
Millie will be missed by those she predeceased, especially her sons David (Kathy), Bruce, Mark (Diane), Doug (Sophia), and her daughter Leslie. Her 11 grandchildren Ryan, Stephanie (Casey), David (Carolyn), Karly (Donald), Bryce, Molly, Jesse (Kayla), Kenny (Faith), Chayton (Alexa), Kayla and Sarah. And close family friend Kelly.
