Michele E. Canfield, age 62, of North Brunswick formerly of Highland Park died on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J.
She was raised in Highland Park and graduated from the Highland Park High School Class of 1969. Michele earned her B.A. in Sociology from Rutgers University and became a Registered Nurse in 1981. This past May, she graduated with her MSN from Kean University. In that same period, she was a social worker for the Middlesex County Board of Social Services, a renal dialysis nurse at both St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J. and the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Michele was also a Hospice Nurse for the Visiting Nurses Association and for the past 26 years, she worked as a Public Health Nurse for the Middlesex County Public Health Dept.
She enjoyed going to Rutgers’ Gardens whenever she could get a chance and she loved helping with local animal shelters.
Michele is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth ‘Liz” Canfield, 23, of North Brunswick.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park. Relatives and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
