Michael P. Maranca, Sr., age 80, of Highland Park, died Tuesday evening, July 14, 2008 at his home. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he graduated from Highland Park High School in 1949 and had lived in Highland Park for most of his life. He was a decorated Army veteran of the Korean War obtaining the rank of Corporal. Mike had been a self-employed painting contractor and paper hanger for most of his life. He was an avid reader and enjoyed all types of wood working projects along with restoring his antique Mustang automobile. He was a great handy man and could fix anything.
He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Esther "Betty" Maranca in 1991 and a brother, Louis Maranca in 2001.
He is survived by his children; Carolyn E. Maranca of Ewing, N.J., Susan D. Mitchell and her husband, Daniel, of North Brunswick, and Michael P. Maranca Jr. and his wife, Andrea, of Tewksbury, N.J., two sisters, Margaret Zullinger of Metuchen and P. Anne Rapisarda and her husband, Sebastian of Edison, a sister-in-law, Sandy Maranca of Highland Park, five grandchildren, Lindsay, Amanda, and Elisabeth Maranca and Kimberly and Daniel Mitchell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
