Mary Fodor, age 99, of Edison, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Carteret, after finishing high school, she continued her studies and later graduated from Drake Secretarial School. Mary moved to Edison in 1947 and has lived there since that time. Mary began her career working as a secretary for Merck & Co. in Rahway, where she remained for 15 years. Later, she went on to work for the Medical Office of Drs. Rosenberg, Konigsberg & Finkelstein in Highland Park where she worked for many years before her retirement.
Mary was active at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church as a long time communicant serving as a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Church senior citizens group. She was also a member of the Italian-American and Senior Citizens clubs, both in Edison. Mary was always a very independent and courageous person, and ahead of her time with her thinking. She was an avid and adventurous traveler, visiting many countries.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Fodor, in 2000.
She is survived by a son, William J. “Bill" Fodor and his wife, Kerry of St. Augustine, FL, a daughter, Marilyn Peluso of the Somerset section of Franklin Township; eight grandchildren; Tara Peluso, Bianca Stallings and her husband, DeAndrew, Anthony Peluso and his wife, Jenna, Craig Fodor, Sarah Fodor, Claire Fodor, Todd Cabrera and Trevor Cabrera, five great-grandchildren, Nyiaar, Kane, Aria Rose, Dillon and Drew and her longtime caregiver, Euronia “Eve” Fuentes.
Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m on Friday at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church (Transfiguration of the Lord Parish) in Highland Park. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.
