Maria Ioffreda Obituary
Maria Michela Ioffreda, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2012. She was 89 years old. Born in Morrone, del Sannio, Italy on April 9, 1923, she came to the United States in 1947 and resided in Highland Park.
Maria worked at Bristol Myers Squibb for many years. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University in 1975 and graduated with high honors. She was an avid traveler who had been to Africa, China, Australia and many other locations across the globe.
Maria was devoted to her family and was a loving caregiver to her niece Stella Draper and nephew Jack Draper. She was a loyal and compassionate friend and will be missed by many. Maria was also a faithful communicant of St. Theresa’s Church in Edison.
Maria was predeceased by her mother and father, Cherubina and Angelo Ioffreda, as well as her brother, Dr. Pasqualino Ioffreda and niece, Marta Micheli. She leaves behind her sister, Olimpia Micheli of Highland Park, her nieces; Rita Carrier of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Marina Adler of Atlanta, Georgia, Angela Micheli of Alexandria, Virginia and Carla Draper of Highland Park; her nephews, Angelo Ioffreda of Arlington, Virginia, Dr. Richard Ioffreda of Belle Mead, New Jersey, Dr. Michael Ioffreda of Hershey, Pennsylvania, Edward Ioffreda of New York City and Michael Gallo of Orlando, Florida. She also leaves behind 16 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park. Family and friends may gather at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Theresa’s R.C. Church, Fox Road, Edison. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.
