Joseph Thein Obituary

Joseph A. Thein, of Highland Park, formerly of Middletown and Brick, died Wednesday, June 16th at home with his family. He was born in New York City on April 28, 1925, the only child of John and Catherine Thein.
Joe served in the Navy from 1943-1946. He graduated from Manhattan College in 1950 with a degree in civil engineering. He worked as a civil engineer until his retirement in 1988. He was a devout Catholic and had served the church as a lector and CCD leader for over 40 years. He volunteered his time to others, helping seniors and the infirmed with transportation and errands, and with at-risk teens during the 1980s.
Joe married Beatrick Trinkleback on September 15, 1951. Beatrice preceded him in death on August 28, 1981. Joe then married Alice Ferencz on May 17, 1986 and she died on March 20, 1927.
Left to cherish his memory are his five children: Teresa Horner (Jeff) of Colorado, Vincent Thein of New York, Maryann Thein (Saul Salkin) of Highland Park, Martin Thein of Edison, and Joseph Thein (Terry) of Port Monmouth. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
