James Calantoni, age 85, of Highland Park, entered into eternal life on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Perth Amboy, he lived in Highland Park for many years and had resided in North Brunswick and Sayreville before moving to Avenel a few years ago.
James worked 35 years as a truck driver for the Teamsters Union Local #701 in North Brunswick. After his retirement as a truck driver, he worked as a crossing guard in North Brunswick and later as a security guard at RCHP and Permacel Tape Company, both in New Brunswick.
He was a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #6306 in Highland Park.
He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Victoria Calantoni in 2010; a daughter, Donna Reap in 2005 and three sisters and four brothers.
He is survived by two sons, Vincent Calantoni, Jr. of Avenel and James Calantoni of North Brunswick, 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and a son-in-law, Joseph Reap.
Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church (Transfiguration of the Lord Parish) in Highland Park. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross burial Park Mausoleum in South Brunswick.
