Irene (Lorik) Galayda

Irene D. Galayda, 92, passed away at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Brunswick on January 11, 2022 after a brief illness surrounded by her family.

Irene grew up in Highland Park and was a graduate of Highland Park High School.  She also lived in East Brunswick and Spotswood and returned to Highland Park in 2018.  She worked as an Administrative Secretary for Rutgers University in New Brunswick for many years and retired several years ago.

Mrs. Galayda loved to cook and was the doting grandparent to her grandchildren.  They are the apple of her eyes.

She was predeceased by her husband Stephen (2008) and two children, Gary and Karen.  She was also predeceased by her brother Steve "Butch."

Irene is survived by her sons: James and his wife Nancy of Highland Park, and Stephen and his wife Patricia of Rochester, NY.  The love of her life were the grandchildren: James, Kristen, Christopher and his wife, Jamie, Samatha and her husband Anthony, Melissa and Robyn.  There are several great grandchildren.  Irene also loved her family dogs, Nicky and Charlie.

Relatives and friends can pay their respects to the family on Friday, January 14, 2022 between noon and 2 pm at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 S. Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park, NJ.  A funeral service will commence at 2 pm.  She will be laid to rest along side her husband.  The interment is private.
