Frank Kovics, age 81, of Sayreville formerly of Highland Park, died Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, N.J.
Frank was born in Hungary in 1932 and left Hungary to come to the United States to have the American dream of opporunity and freedom in 1959. While in Hungary, he had served in the Hungarian Army. He came to New Brunswick and then settled in Highland Park where he lived most of his life. Later, he moved to Sayreville into the house he built.
In the United States, Frank had worked as a Sheet Rocker for most of his career, along with owning several bars, a nightclub, a liquor store and race horses. He had a love for horse racing, gambling and entertaining. He was one you could always count on to help whenever in need. Frank had a very giving heart; was a strong man and his nickname was "the bull."
Frank was a member of the Hungarian American Athletic Club (HAAC) in New Brunswick for several years.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Margaret, two daughters, Cynthia Walker and her husband, Steven, and Gabriella Keating and her husband, Peter, three grand-daughters, Valerie Simonyi, Violet Simonyi and Amanda Walker, and a former son-in-law, Andrew Simonyi.
A private service will be held for the family.
