Ethel Balogh Obituary


Ethel Balogh, age 100, of Edison, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at her residence in Jacksonville, FL.

Born in Nagygejoc, Hungary, she was resided in Urhorod Ungvar, Czechoslovakia and moved to the United States in 1930 at the age of 16. Mrs. Balogh lived in Highland Park for many years and moved to Edison where she lived until she moved to Florida in 2003.

Mrs. Balogh worked for Alexander Unger Cigar Box Factory in New Brunswick for many years. Later, she worked for Max Ostra Ladies’ Undergarments in New Brunswick.

She was a communicant for over 50 years at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church in Highland Park. Also, she was a member of the Edison Senior Citizens.

Mrs. Balogh was the daughter of the late Julius Dragos and Elizabeth Homoki. She was pre-deceased by her husband, John Balogh, in 1987; her daughter, Ethel Elizabeth Hermsen, in 2009; and son-in-law, Edward Leonard Hermsen, in 2003.

She is survived by her two grand-daughters, Dawn L. Greene (husband Philip), and Tara Lynne Peters (fiancé Robert Best) of Florida; great grand-daughters, Stacy Francis (husband Keith) and Leandra Greene (fiancé Robert Tracie) and three great, great grandchildren, Kadyn, Ella and Dilon.

Relatives and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Pault he Apostle R.C. Church (Transfiguration of the Lord Parish) in Highland Park. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.
