Edilberto Zoleta Obituary

Edilberto “Bert” Zoleta, 79, passed away at home on Saturday, June 6, 2020.

Born in Manila, Philippines, Bert was a resident of New York City and Jersey City before settling in Edison, where he lived for many years. He served in the United States Navy and was a long-time employee at Macy’s in Herald Square, New York City before his retirement.

Bert was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Eleanor, who passed away on May 8, 2020. Bert and Eleanor shared a passion and thirst for travel and adventure, and they enjoyed visits to countless countries around the world.  Bert was also very interested in art, history, current events, and movies.

Bert was a devoted husband and never left Eleanor’s side. He is survived by sisters Thelma Matias, Celina Tiongson and Isabelle Zenarosa and her husband Derek, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Eleanor, he was also predeceased by his parents Juanita and Marcelina Zoleta and his sister Felisa Zoleta.

There will be a viewing on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 between the hours of 2:00 – 4:00 pm at Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park, NJ. Covid19 restrictions imposed by the Governor and Health Department require all visitors MUST have a face covering in order to enter the funeral home.  Each visitor will also have a temperature check prior to entry.  The funeral home will also monitor the number of visitors.  A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 10 at 10:00 am at Guardian Angels Church, 37 Plainfield Avenue, Edison, NJ.  His body will be entombed at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ along side his beloved wife.
