Obituary

Donald Robert Humphrey, age 71 of New Brunswick at rest in New Brunswick, New Jersey on December 1, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Valerie Ann Humphrey (nee Adams) of New Brunswick. Loving father of Bryan Baumann and his wife Lisa of Woodland Park. Adoring fan of Michelle Bolchune and her husband Michael of Little Falls. Cherished son of the late Pauline and Philip Humphrey of Whitewater, Wisconsin. Son in law to Joan and the late Herbert Adams. Loving brother of Philip (Sue Marx), Richard (Chris), Holly (Duane) and the late Sally Humphrey. Loving brother-in-law of Bruce Adams. Adoring grandfather of Dylan and Mason. Godfather to Hannah. Loving uncle to Sarah, Ben, Joseph, and Kendra. He is also survived by many loving cousins, dear family and beloved friends.

Born and raised in Whitewater, Wisconsin, Donald served in the United States Navy stationed in Guam during the Vietnam War. He moved to New Brunswick after marrying Valerie. He was a long-term employee of Doors, Inc., an active member of the American Legion Post 25 in Milltown, and the Disabled American Veterans. Family was his top priority and he enjoyed creating surprises and memories with those closest to him. A voracious reader, he enjoyed history, mysteries, and novels. He loved traveling with his wife, encouraging his grandchildren, nieces and nephews and creating a good time wherever he went. His jovial spirit, infectious laugh, ability to consistently show more concern for others than for himself, made him a favorite of friends and family. He was a man of his word and of opinion, who valued trustworthiness and honesty in others. His love for family and friends was expressed in the cards and notes that he wrote, the offers of help and assistance to those in need and the ability to create a good day just by being present.
