Cynthia D. Walling, age 86, of Highland Park, NJ died at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ on Feb. 4, 2021 after being admitted with Covid-19. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 28th 1934.
Mrs. Walling is survived by two daughters: Madeline Becker of Middletown, DE and Laura Becker and her husband, Scott of Cherry Hill, NJ, and three grandchildren: Karl, Denise, and Justin. She is also survived by her long time companion, Nick Lombardi. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Frank Becker (2007) and her siblings Sondra (2015) and Joel (1999). She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She was also a talented artist and displayed her paintings in many local galleries. She studied painting and excelled at landscapes and portraits. Cynthia received her master’s degree at Rutgers University in Art education and Special Education. In 2005, she retired from the Elizabeth Board of Education after teaching in the High School for many years. In her retirement she remained active. She was a voracious reader who frequented her local library. She also enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, watching Jeopardy and playing Scrabble. Cynthia was creative, smart and filled with love. She will be missed by her many friends and family who shared her joie de vivre.
