Charles John Kish, Sr. age 80, of Highland Park, died Wednesday evening, December 2, 2009 at his home. Born in New Brunswick, his family went back to Hungary. He was educated there and graduated from high school in Polgradi. Charles returned to New Brunswick after World War II at the age of 17. He served in the Army in Germany during the Korean War. In 1956, he volunteered at Camp Kilmer helping with the refugees. He was a life member of the VFW Post #10536 and had been a longtime resident of Highland Park. Charles had worked in the area as a self-employed electrical contractor for 45 years before retiring in 1991. He was a member and past treasurer of the HAAC of New Brunswick. Also, he was a member of the Wagon Wheels Hunting Club in the Poconos. Charles had several interests and hobbies which included hunting, traveling, and dancing.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Karol and Emerencia Baranyai Kish and a sister, Yolanda "Jenny" Tomori.
Charles is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lillian Kurits Kish, two sons, Charles John Kish, Jr. and his wife, Rosemary of Piscataway and their children, Kelly Ann and Kathryn Mary, Steven Joseph Kish and his wife, Mary Ellen of North Carolina and their children, Steven Jr., Abby and Emercencia, and a brother, Alfred Kish of Highland Park.
