Betty Sue Olsen, 83, of Aberdeen, NJ passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024.
She was born in Shop Springs, TN and was raised in central Tennessee, being the 5th born of 16 children. At age 18, she met Donald J Olsen (U.S. Airforce) in Washington, D.C., where Donald was stationed. It was love at first sight. Two months later, they were married and began a new life and family of their own. They soon relocated to Hoboken, NJ, where Donald made a career as a Hoboken Police Officer, while Betty raised their 6 children. When Donald retired from the police force, they relocated back to Tennessee.
Years later, after the passing of her husband, Betty found her way back to New Jersey. Betty was loved by so many. To know her, was to love her. She was loving, caring, nurturing, a Godfearing Christian Lady with a heart and soul filled with so much love for everyone. She even loved her children's friends as her own. They called her Momma as well. She loved singing, especially gospel hymns, her favorite gospel being "Precious Memories" by Alan Jackson. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, drawing and loved being surrounded by her precious children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is predeceased by her husband Donald J. Olsen Sr, grandsons Sean Olsen and Jacob Thompson, mother Mary Etta McGee Ferrell, father Dock Ferrell, sister Johnny Blythe and brothers LB Ferrell and Bobby Ferrell. She is survived by her son John V Olsen (Liz), daughter Janet M Vignes (Robert), son Donald J. Olsen Jr (Natasha), Donalyn C. Brandao (Artie), Donna M. Olsen, Eileen K. Ritter (Rich), 20 other grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
