Barbara Johnson, age 76, of Highland Park, died Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Brooklyn, she moved to Woodbridge, N.J. in 1969 and lived there before moving to Highland Park 40 years ago.
Barbara had worked for 25 years as a general clerk for New Jersey Bell in Cranford before her retirement.
She served as the 12th District Representative on the Highland Park Democratic Committee and volunteered at the Thrift Shop at the Reformed Church of Highland Park.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Robert T. Johnson in 1980, and three brothers, Bernard, Raymond, and Gerald Jackowski.
Barbara is survived by her son, Gary, his wife, Suzanne and grand-daughter, Nicole Anya Jablonski.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Reformed Church of Highland Park, 19-21 South Second Avenue, Highland Park. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, Highland Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Reformed Church of Highland Park’s Affordable Housing Corporation, for all the agency housing programs that benefit young women and/or victims of domestic violence.
