Anna Chomko, age 84, of Woodbridge, died on April 11, 2013 at her home under hospice care.
Born in Jersey City on May 28, 1928 to Benjamin and Rose Shine, she graduated from High School in Jersey City. She met and married her husband, Harry in 1951. They moved to Fords in 1962 where she was a member of the Rosary Society and a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church.
Anna worked for Western Electric in Kearny and Clark from 1956 until her retirement in 1989. She was a caring woman who helped her family in need starting with her grandmother, Carmella Cranga until her death in 1971. Anna helped her family with whatever they needed: food, medicine, watching grandchildren as well as others who needed care.
Anna was an avid bowler who would sometimes be in three leagues in a week and who loved to go to tournaments, which took her to Las Vegas, Reno and Florida. She won numerous awards including gold, silver and bronze metals at the Garden State Games. Black Jack in Atlantic City,Vegas and Reno were other hobbies.
Her son, Harry Chomko spent the last seven years caring for Anna as the Alzheimer’s disease progressed. Harry’s care and devotion enabled Anna to stay in her home. They were still able to travel to bowling, daycare and softball until this February when her health seriously declined.
Anna was pre-deceased by her husband, Harry, who died in 1974.
