It is with great sadness that the family of Amelio Angelini announces his passing on Monday, March 2, 2026.
Amelio was born on February 25, 1936, in Pretare, Italy, to Virginia and Nezzareno Angelini. In 1957, he immigrated to the United States with his family and later settled in the Highland Park and Edison areas of New Jersey.
A master carpenter by trade, Amelio worked for Bilt‑Rite Lumber Company before going on to establish his own custom woodworking business. His craftsmanship, attention to detail, and strong work ethic were hallmarks of his career.
Amelio was devoted to his beloved wife, Letizia, to whom he was married for 64 years. He was predeceased by his sister, Elisa, and his brother‑in‑law, Tony D’Amato.
He is survived by his children, Diane and her husband, Dan; Paul and his children, Evan and Julianne; and Joanne and her husband, Mat, and their children, Tyler and Mackenzie. He is also survived by his sister, Rita Valeri, and her husband, Romano, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
An avid sportsman and lifelong sports fan, Amelio rooted passionately for the New York Mets and greatly enjoyed international soccer matches. He was a season ticket holder for the New York Cosmos and took great pride in following the sport he loved. In addition to watching sports, he led an active life—bowling a perfect 300 game with an impressive 835 series in 1987, hunting alongside his Brittany Spaniels, and taking many cherished fishing trips on the Pulaski River. In retirement, he embraced golf, finding joy and camaraderie on the course.
Amelio will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to a visitation on Friday, March 6, 2026 at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 S. Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park, NJ between the hours of 3 pm to 7 pm. A prayer service by Fr. Sean Winters will be offered on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the funeral home at 10:30 am. The entombment of his remains will be held immediately after the prayer service at Saint Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick, NJ.
