Maria Manfre

Maria R. Manfre, age 96, of Highland Park, died Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Francis E. Parker Home in New Brunswick.

Born in New York, NY, she has lived in Highland Park since 1955.
She was a communicant at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church (Transfiguration of the Lord Parish) in Highland Park and was a member of the Highland Park senior citizens.

Maria was an excellent cook and enjoyed many special times with family and friends.

She had worked many years as a retail sales associate for several stores and was requested by many customers for her knowledge and fine assistance. In her later years, Maria had worked as a teacher’s aide for the Highland Park schools and the Creative Nursery School in Highland Park.

Maria was pre-deceased by her husband ,Ignazio, in 1992 and her siblings, Anthony Ponzio, Pauline Casale, Rosalie DeGaetano and Gloria Ruzkowski.

She is survived by her daughter, Annette Marinko and her husband, Ernest, of Manalapan, a son, John Manfre and his wife, Toni of Milltown, her grandchildren; David Marinko of Tinton Falls, Matthew Manfre and his wife, Mandie of Bridgewater, and Kara Manfre and her fiancée, Anthony DeSomma of Jersey City, a great-grand-daughter, Olivia Rose Manfre and a brother-in-law, Stanley Ruszkowski. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, November 10th at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11th at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church, (Transfiguration of the Lord Parish) Highland Park. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the American Heart Association.
