George Lordi, 99, formerly of Edison, New Jersey, peacefully passed away at the home of his son in Angier, North Carolina on Friday, October 4, 2019.
George was born on July 1, 1920, in Newark, NJ. After serving in the Pacific during World War II, he returned and graduated from Seton Hall University and New York University with degrees in Psychology. He met his wife, Susan Lordi (nee James) while working at the State Hospital in Dixon, IL. George and his wife, Susan, returned to N.J. where he worked as a Psychologist for the Newark school system until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time in his garden, reading and listening to classical music. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his sense of humor.
He is survived by his son Kenneth Lordi (Sandra) of Angier, NC and daughter Laura Lordi Hathaway (Ron) of Enosburg Falls, Vermont as well as his grandchildren, Angela Pacheco (Jerry) and Adrienne Jaquith (Chris). He also leaves behind 6 beloved great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Pacheco, Katie Pacheco, Danny Pacheco, Anthony Pacheco, Zachary Jaquith, and Emily Jaquith.
A Catholic funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 23 S Fifth Avenue, Highland Park, NJ at 11:30 am. The entombment of his remains will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway, NJ immediately after the mass.
