Carlo Caponi, age 91, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 28, 2019 at JFK Hospital in Edison, NJ attended by his wife of 59 years, Rita Baldini Caponi .
Mr. Caponi was a 57 year resident of Highland Park. He was born in Pretare, Provence of Ascoli Piceno, Marche region, Italy. Carlo attended school in Italy. As a young man, he enjoyed skiing and winter sports in his mountainous town. Upon arrival in America Mr Caponi worked at Johns Manville Corporation located in North Brunswick NJ.
Mr. Caponi's father, John, owned the Milltown Tavern in Milltown, NJ for 45 years. When his father John retired and returned to Italy, Carlo took over the ownership of the tavern and along with his wife, Rita, ran the tavern for 32 years. And, for five years, they also owned Giuseppe Pizzeria on Easton Ave in New Brunswick, NJ.
Mr. Caponi was pre-deceased by his parents, John Caponi and Giustina Piccolomini, his brother Ovidio Caponi, his sister Dea Caponi Xiuref and his sister-in-law Livia Potalivo.
Carlo is survived by his wife Rita Baldini Caponi and sister-in-law, Concetta D'Alfonso. He is survived by several nephews in Rome, Italy: Piero Xiuref and his wife, Monique; Roberto Xiuref and his wife, Oxana. He is also survived by a niece Patricia Henderson and her husband John; nephew Maurice Potalivo; nephew Alessandro Potalivo and his wife Elaine; his nephew Francesco and his wife Marilena; his nephew Angelo D'Alfonso and his wife Stefania and their families; grandnephews and grandnieces.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to pay their respects to the family at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 S. Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park, NJ on Sunday, June 30, 2019 between the hours of 2 pm to 7 pm. Friends may also pay their respects on Monday morning between 9 am and 9:30 am. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 10 am at Transfiguration of the Lord Parish, St. Paul the Apostle Church, 502 Raritan Avenue, Highland Park. Guests are invited to attend a repass to celebrate Carlo's life at the Pines Manor, 2085 Route 27 (cross street Talmadge Road), Edison, NJ. Carlo will be cremated privately and his cremated remains will be interred in his beloved Italy, at a later time.
