Dee Donnelly, age 93, a long -time resident of Highland Park died on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at the St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J.
Dee had been employed as an administrative assistant for the State of New Jersey in Trenton for many years before her retirement. While working for the State, she received her bachelor’s degree from the Thomas Edison State College.
She was a devout Catholic and attended daily mass as long as she could physically get there at St. Paul’s Church. She prayed the rosary daily and loved to display pictures of the Blessed Mother in her apartment. Dee was very religious and also attended the Reformed Church of Highland Park and especially loved staying for their coffee hour after the service.
She could be found driving around Highland Park in her electric wheelchair and for many years nicknamed her transportation “Baby”. Dee drove it like a car and got to the places that she wanted and needed to go. She enjoyed her time spent at the community center and the fellowship of friends.
A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024 at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish (St. Paul’s Church) in Highland Park. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick, N.J.
Gary Potts would like to extend his appreciation to her friends who assisted her in so many ways and allowed her to live a full life despite her disabilities. She was blessed to have a community that lent a hand when she needed it most.
